Trendy Tape

The monthly tag swap on UKScrappers is all about trends - what's hot! And for November the trend to follow is TAPE. Washi tape that is in all its glorious forms. I haven't delved too much into the world of washi as it seems to be huge and I don't want to be engulfed already having addictions to stamps, sprays, metal...

But I do have some washi tape and I chose to mix a filmstrip tape with the gorgeous Graphic 45 Communique papers and here's what I made:

the background paper is Prima and the letters are Authentique and 7 Dots Studio - and the lovely hemp twine is off my mum :o) Keep Crafting - Sian xx

Decorating my craft room

I decided recently I wanted to show off some of the crafts I've been a part of and not leave them in drawers or boxes. I've started small but hope to build on it. I took part in a fabulous collage swap on UKScrappers - we all chose a colour and a theme, made our pieces, sent them to the lovely leanie who then sent us all different pieces back. I decided to add mine to a large canvas and to colour that canvas with Dylusions sprays first:

I then arranged the collage pieces and glued them on.

And now it now hangs above where  sit to craft:

I love how the pieces compliment each other and it was a great swap to take part in. Keep Crafting - Sian xx

Christmas Mini Book

Another swap on UKScrappers a Christmas Mini Book. 13 people joined so we created 13 mini book pages (6 x 3 inches) with a Christmas theme. Having recently bought some Christmas Dylusions stamps I stuck to my usual themes of Dylusions and Stampotiques.

So there you have it! A merry christmas to you and to all a good night! Keep Crafting - Sian xx

Where trouble melts like lemon drops...

The November Card Swap theme this month was to be inspired by a piece of music. Simples. And I was inspired by this:

Israel  "IZ" Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole died aged 38 with obesity related problems. Ten thousand people attended his funeral and this video shows the funeral and the scattering of his ashes in the Pacific Ocean. It is one of my dreams to swim in the Pacific Ocean. This mellow, simple folk version of the song and what I perceive as happiness in the video inspired me to create these simple cards:

I've never created anything with so much white space on and the temptation to add something to the corners or border - anything - was difficult to ignore but I was determined that these cards were to have a simple message and a clean look. The rainbow is from the Octopode Factory and I've coloured it in with pro-markers. Keep Crafting - and Keep Dreaming - Sian xxx

Getting Jiggy Wi' It...

It seems like an age since I was at Port Sunlight picking up 12 grey board jigsaws for Karen so she could organise an altered jigsaw swap and that's probably because this swap has taken ages. I got fed up after a while and put it aside until last night when I decided I was going to finish it if it killed me! We all picked a month of the year - mine April - and had to create 12 pieces in that style so when we get all of them back we will have a complete jigsaw with a piece for every month.

I decided to go bright and do an Octopode Easter/Spring scene. I sprayed the back with Dylusions spray and for some insane reason decided to add 11 elements to each piece which meant cutting out 132 quite small octopode pieces - that's what drove me insane - that and the fact that my ink kept smudging under the promarkers until I changed to a lesser quality white card and found sanity again.

So here they are with my blood sweat and tears included for free - :oD

Looking forward to receiving the completed jigsaw back - Keep Crafting - Sian xxx

Advice from a Caterpillar!

Where would you find advice from a caterpillar? Only one place mad enough - Alice in Wonderland! As part of a Storybook CJ on UKScrappers I've completed two double layouts for Rebecca's gorgeous Alice in Wonderland book. We had to pick a character, quote or scene and create a layout. Simples! So here's what I made:

And here's my matching tag:

I used Dylusions sprays for all the backgrounds as well as some stamps and Octopode images mainly. Rebecca had done her entry in an art journal style so I thought I would follow suit. I hope she likes it and I'm looking forward to the next story in this storybook series :o) Keep Crafting - Sian xx
