More Jolly Journaling

Another gorgeous CJ in the Jolly Journallers group on UKScrapper this time from Alison who wanted quotes. I love quotes so was more than happy to oblige. Here's my entry:

The backgrounds are made up of distress paint dabbers, stamps, doodles, masks, sprays,
paints, tissue papers and texture paste

I wrote the quote onto my own background paper that I'd printed out except for the word courage which I stamped with my Suzi Blu upper case alphabet. The images are all from Tumblefish Studios with the exception of the purple bird which is from Etsy :o)

Spring Cards

Spring is the theme for the March Card Swap on UKScrappers. We also had the choice of using a sketch and adding flowers and ribbons. Here's my cards:

Click on the picture for a close up.

I used Stampin' Up cardstock in Pink Pirouette and my new favourite Pistachio Pudding. The border stamps are both Julie Nutting's Mixed Media Border stamps from Prima Marketing. I stamped Stampin' Up! En Francais in pale green onto the pistachio cardstock. The main image is a Suzi Blu stamp, "As Long As I Have You" coloured with promarkers and the sentiment which says Sending You Sunshine is from a Daisy & Dandelion Secret Woodlands set Pumpkin.

Spoon Angel

A lovely swap on UKScrappers with the lovely Chrissie to create a Spoon Angel as seen in Craft Stamper magazine. A direct swap we were given a person in secret and told their requirements. I was given the lovely Pauline who wanted turquoise, bluey-greens, silver and a flash of hot pink! Gorgeous! So here's what I did:

I used a 5x7 canvas, coated it with blue and white paint then covered it with two sheets of She Art coffee filter sheets then added more turquoise paint in various shades. I then mod podged strips of Finnabair's9th Wave "Wavy Ocean" paper which has beautiful green and blue shades and lots of textured detail of fabrics. I painted over these strips again and added strips of silver and hot pink paint then some stamped images in black, silver and wild plum. If you look at the picture up close you can see a trail of dragonflies and gems starting bottom left going up past the right wing and over the angel's head.

For the spoon, I added two layers of gesso then took some advice from the fab Karen and glued tissue paper over the top of that. Then I painted the spoon dark to light turquoise. For the face I stamped Suzi Blu's Life is Fun onto tissue paper and coloured it very gently with Blush promarker and used Emerald green for her eyes, then glued her onto the spoon. I painted the pink shoulders and the blond hair then used a Micron pen to add the lines. I used a metal flower and brad from Finnabair's Vintage Mechanicals  in the bottom right corner. Finally I added the gems up the body and used patterned silver mirror card and Sissix Angel Wings die for the wings. Here's another pic, I couldn't decide which was better or if the pictures were different in any way so I've added them both :) Hope Pauline likes it as she's very talented!!!

Journaling

I've just completed a couple of Circle Journal entries - both based on quotes - one funny, one serious. The first one I finished was a single page for the lovely Yolanda in the Secret Swappers, a lovely group I'm in at UKScrappers. We could choose a funny quote so I went with this one:

The alphabet on the words me, unicorn and slap are Suzi Blu. The border is from Julie Nutting's Mixed Media borders and the words are stamped and hand-written on to backgrounds I made myself, scanned and then printed out. Here's the background before the quote went on:

I used acrylic paints, washi tape and various stamps.

The second entry I completed was in the fab Cynthia's Quotes to Live By for the Jolly Journaler's CJ again on UKS (where else?!) I spent a while searching for a quote I really believed in and found this one:

Again I used acrylic paints, various stamps, I used the JOFY alphabet for the quote which I stamped onto one of my own handmade, scanned and printed backgrounds. The female image I had as a freebie from a purchase on Etsy and it so happened to have the word vulnerable right at the top in the middle. I printed it, outlined the word vulnerable (click on the picture and you can see a larger version) and painted the woman with purple archival ink. The heart images are Dina Wakely's Media stamps and the Fragile stamp is from a Paperartsy Eclectica set.

Thanks for looking
